In Greenfield Projects, SAP S/4HANA is implemented ground up i.e. the project comprises of various phases such as Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy & Run. It takes atleast 4 to 6 months for a mid-range project to go live with productive operations.

More info about Greenfield Projects is available here.

In Brownfield projects, you can migrate a legacy version of SAP like R/3 4.x versions or SAP ECC with any Enhancement Package to S/4HANA. The legacy database is migrated to HANA database, code is upgraded, and your custom code is converted so that it is compatible with S/4HANA. You can drop some of the customization, in case the functions are available in S/4HANA.

More information is available here.

S/4HANA migration projects involve migrating SAP legacy versions like R/3 4.x or SAP ECC versions to S/4HANA using either Brownfield approach (System Conversion) or Bluefield approach (Landscape Transformation).

Trainees, with 2-3 years Industry experience, however they are not deployed to implementation projects unless they complete 6 months of training period and also an year of experience in our SAP Centre of Excellence.

We follow the SAP Activate Methodology to implement SAP applications which comprises of 6 phases: Discover > Explore > Prepare > Realize > Deploy > Run.

We also use the Activate tool provided by SAP to manage SAP Projects.

In 2010, we formed a SAP Centre of Excellence, led by a team of Principal Consultants, who plan, manage and monitor all SAP projects (new impementations, upgrades, enhancements, support) centrally. They are also responsible for developing new solutions, which enhance the capability of SAP applications.

We have been supporting our customers and their business users from our SAP Support Center since more than a decade. Our consultants visit our customers when necessary or when the customer requests for a physical presence. They access customer applications remotely from their devices securely. Our SAP COE is equipped with state-of-art infrastructure and security best practices required for implementing and supporting SAP applications remotely.

The pandemic did not have a significant impact on our implementation and support services, since all our remote work practices were already in place and in a stable state.

We offer three Support Plans – Basic, Business and Enterprise.

When you implement an ERP application, you incur initial costs during the implementation and recurring costs through out the life-cycle of these applications.

Major costs incurred in the implementation phase are:

  • Software License fees, which includes SAP applications, Operating Systems, Database, Connectors for Integration, if required etc.
  • Infrastructure Costs which includes Server Infrastructure, End-user Infrastructure, Network & Communication Costs etc.
  • Consulting fees paid to your Implementation partner towards implementation activities such as Configuration, Customization, Data Migration, Testing, Training, Deployment, Support etc.

Major recurring costs are:

  • Annual Software Maintenance fees, to be paid to Software Vendors who provide you support packs, patches or new versions of the software, solutions for changes in taxes, and online support in case of major issues
  • Support & Maintenance costs to your Application Service Provider, who support your business users, resolve bugs in custom development or help you in implementing new business scenarios
  • Hosting Fees if you have opted for On-cloud option or if you are hosting your Servers in a third-party data center.

We offer the following SAP applications on cloud:

  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP Analytic Cloud
  • SAP Hybris
  • SAP Ariba
  • SAP SuccessFactors
  • SAP Concur

There are several factors to be considered such as Security of your applications, Capabilities of your IT teams, Cost of SaaS versus On-premise application, when you have to decide between on-premise and on-cloud solutions.

However in our experience, the clinching factor is this:

If you can adapt SAP Best Practices and run your business, then you may opt for On-cloud applications. If you have significant customization requirements, then you may opt for On-premise applications

SAP has a huge portfolio of applications and the user types depends on specific applications. Please reach out to us in case you want to know the user types related to a specific SAP application.

Project duration is dependent on Implementation Scope i.e. functions, geographical locations, integration scope, number of users, etc, extent of custom development to be carried out or carried forward from legacy system etc. It also some times depends on the size of the organization, range of products and complexities in manufacturing and distribution chain.
In the past, we completed several projects within the below durations:

  • S/4HANA Greenfield projects – 4 months to 7 months
  • S/4HANA Brownfield projects – 3 months to 4 months
  • SuccessFactors projects – 4 months to 6 months
  • Analytics Cloud – 4 months to 6 months
